The very recent Véloroute de la Vallée de la Baïse (2020) connects a large part of the Gers to the already existing network of cycle routes in South-West France, and further inscribes our corner of the South-West, in the landscape of the bicycle roaming tourist offer!

From Condom to Saint-Jean-Poutge

À Condom, a city listed as Grands Sites Occitanie under the title “Armagnac Abbey and Cities”, go back to the days of the Armagnac trade by discovering its many private mansions or by visiting the Armagnac museum. You can stroll along the Baïse, contemplate Saint-Pierre Cathedral and the XNUMXth century Cloister or even greet d'Artagnan and his three Musketeers.

After having taken the Voie Verte de l'Armagnac for 4.2km, you arrive in a remarkable fortified country house. As surprising as it is unusual, nicknamed " little Carcassonne", Find out Larressingle, one of the most beautiful and smallest fortified villages in France and its medieval Gascon castle.

The Véloroute then leaves the Voie Verte de l'Armagnac. At the Baïse level, cross the road to see the double lock of Graziac ; a remarkable renovated structure, which still functions for pleasure boating.

In Valence-sur-Baïse, discover theFlaran Abbey ; XNUMXth century Cistercian abbey and Mecca of exhibitions open year round.

The marked Véloroute then passes by the D939; dangerous passage strongly discouraged. To avoid this section you have two solutions: take the Chemin des Palpès or go through the city, by the Boulevard de Lissagaray and then take the direction of Beaucaire.

At the Moulin de Beaucaire, cross to see the lock and take the opportunity to make a refreshing stop. Put down your bikes to settle in the Beaucaire canoes and go for a walk on the Baïse.

Get on your mounts in the direction of Castera-Verduzan and let yourself be tempted by a night rest in this small thermal village with a peaceful atmosphere.
