The pedestrian street of Auch
Formerly called the Camin Dret (the straight path in Occitan), the rue Dessoles bears the name of Napoleon's General of the Empire. It is a busy shopping street all year round, located a stone's throw from the St. Mary's Cathedral. Jean Joseph Paul Augustin Dessoles (1767 - 1828)
Born in Auch and soldier of the Revolution, he was the leader of the first battalion of Gers volunteers. He distinguished himself in Novi and Hohenlinden, but also in Spain where he took Cordoba.
