Visit to the cathedral for the stained glass workshop

Modeling, from 6 years old

  • Children discover the cathedral choir stalls.
  • They learn to understand the function of a choir and observe the 1th century stalls where more than 500 different motifs are carved in low relief. They then make their own clay sculpture inspired by the bestiary represented in the stalls.

Coat of arms, from 6 years old

  • In the Hall of Illustrious from the town hall, the little curious set off to meet different coats of arms and coats of arms.
  • They learn to recognize them and understand their meaning. In order to pierce the secrets of this medieval art, throughout the workshop, they learn the techniques and rules of heraldry and then carry out a coat of arms in their image.

Stone cutting, from 6 years old

  • The apprentice builders walk through and observe the facades of the historic center discovering theart of stone cutting.
  • The guide leads them to understand the differences between a cut stone and a sculpted decoration. On the workshop side, equipped with scissors and scribing points, they embark on the creation ofa bas-relief like a stonecutter!

Stained glass, from 9 years old

  • Budding glassmakers discover the art of stained glass in front of the Arnaut de Moles canopies in the cathedral.
  • During the visit, they discover the technique of making a stained glass window and then observe the characters, animals and decorations. Sleeves rolled up, off they go to realize a stained glass window in the manner of Arnaut de Moles, on a small bay, using models and colored tracing papers.
