WALK THROUGH THE WOOD OF PILHAT

The circuit starts from behind the castle of Montaut-les-Créneaux which dominates the Aulouste valley and winds through the surrounding countryside along paths often offering magnificent panoramas. Put on your sneakers, ready to go? Ready? Walk!

1 - From the car park, take the covered way to the west, pass in front of the village hall, then go down to the right towards the Communal Forest for 400m. At an intersection, turn right towards Mirepoix.
2 - At the second intersection, follow the road to the left, pass En Gelotte and continue straight ahead for 800m.
3 - After Saboge, go to the right by the alley which leads to Labarthète, pass between the hangar and the house and continue to the woods.
4 - Fork to the right, walk along the wood for 200m and enter on the left by a grassy path. Then go up to the right towards Larrouy. Go past the house.
5 - Take the first stony path on the right for 500m. Always continue straight; it becomes grassy, ​​then runs along a grove and comes out on a tarmac path that you follow to the right until an intersection.
6 - Continue by the road to the right, pass the residential houses to enter further into the Bois de Pilhat communal forest.
7 - At the entrance of the wood, follow the first forest path on the right (follow the markings carefully) and come out on the road at the exit of the wood.
8 - Take it to the right and always follow it straight ahead, it brings you back to the village of Montaut-les-Créneaux. Go up the road taken on the outward journey and reach the starting point.

When you return from your walk, stop in the small castelnau with its very medieval character. Appreciate the efforts that have been made for the conservation of the city gate, listed in the supplementary inventory of historical monuments, as well as the church, listed as historical monuments. In the main street, the half-timbered houses will hold your attention.
