THE BESMAUX TRAIL

The path you are going to take once linked the village of Pavie to the hamlet of Besmaux, which was only a modest seigneury until François de Monlezun, like other Gascons, left to seek his fortune in Paris.
The route will take you to the banks of the Sousson then will allow you to discover the forests with original species of trees brought back from America.

1-Head towards "La Fenière". Turn right and follow the Chemin de la Hount de Long. Place Jean Moulin, enter the dead end and continue on the shaded path. Walk along the hedge, turn left and continue towards the relay antenna.

2- After the pond, follow the hedge and go down the tarmac road to the right, then at the crossroads turn left.

3- Shortly before the metal bridge, go left and walk along the Sousson stream for 1,5 km. Go up to the left along a hedge to reach the Scots pine wood on the right.

4- Enter the Bois des Coumettes and turn right on the botanical path. After climbing a switchback, go to the right to reach the picnic area. Go straight.

5- Turn right on the asphalt road then immediately left to cross a grove. Go up to the left by the road for 100 m and enter the Bois du Pin on the left. Follow the marked path. On leaving this wood, take the road to the left for 80 m.

6- Enter the wood of Besmaux on the right, to take its network of paths. After the abandoned palombière, go down to the right then go up to arrive at the equestrian center located behind the castle of Besmaux.

7- Pass in front of the stables and take the road on the right for about 1 km until "Bernard Jouan". Follow the path to the left and find the route taken on the way out at the relay antenna.

***
Take advantage of being in Pavia to discover the emblematic XNUMXth century bridge.
Near the bastide of Pavie, and listed as a historic monument since 1941, this old bridge spans the Gers and consists of three low ribbed arches, the largest of which is in the center.
