VILLAGE OF SAINTE-CHRISTIE

The village of Sainte-Christie and the castle date from the 1000th century. The castle has a brick architecture, built to serve as a hotel for pilgrims going to St-Jacques de Compostelle. Its first construction, made with local stones dates back to the year XNUMX. It was the Lord of Luppé the first occupant.
In the 13th century, a fire destroyed three quarters of the castle and few walls were spared as well as a tower currently in ruins.
Local artisanal brickyards were used for its reconstruction.

The feudal dovecote is located about 200 meters away and was formerly in the form of a square tower with a pyramidal roof supported by eight porticoes. Three of these are still standing today.

Also discover during your walk the fortified gate and the Saint-Michel church of Casteljaloux, then to the north-east of the town, the Larroque castle.
