VILLAGE OF NOUGAROULET

This small village whose origin of the name is "Nogarolet" (small walnut) is built on an old motte. Of the castle, which disappeared before the 1624th century, some vestiges (walls, windows, etc.) remain, included in dwellings rebuilt in the XNUMXth century. The fortifications were destroyed in XNUMX by order of Richelieu, along with those of many other fortified towns. But if the buildings have disappeared, the site remains, on a spur with a succession of shaded terraced walks which mark the different levels of the old enclosure.

To discover in Nougaroulet:
- XNUMXth century church
- Sundial from 1750
- XNUMXth century church (restored) of La Boubée and Coignax
- Fountain of Devotion St John the Baptist near the church
- Remains of the castle, fortified house absorbed by an XNUMXth century construction
- Mill
- Dovecotes
