AUCH THEATER

Located in the Town Hall of Auch, this 1759th century Italian theater is the only theater of this period preserved in the South-West. In XNUMX, the intendant of Etigny proposed the construction of a new town hall. From the start, the building was designed to house a theater.

The room has an elongated U-shape, the branches of which diverge in a slight curve to reach the front stage. The foliage panels of the first lodges have in their center medallions representing dramatic authors (Voltaire, Shakespeare, Molière, Sophocles…).

The ceiling represents Poetry, Eloquence, Music and Painting. The theater is still used today for cultural purposes, in particular by the stage agreed Circa.

Guided tours are offered with the guides of the Country of Art and History (contact the tourist office for more information).
