Discover the work of Ida Jakobs, the result of a 5-month residency in a psychiatric hospital in Toulouse. There, the artist accompanied about ten patients and two caregivers in creating personal photographic works.
"I'm afraid of the dark.
At night in my bed, I cover myself completely in my duvet, leaving just enough space for my mouth and nose to breathe.
I mustn't let the ghosts that haunt me come and touch me.
I try to convince myself that they are not here to hurt me.
But a doubt remains.
It is this terrible nausea that grips me when I read these texts that recount the Holocaust.
Or when I hear on the radio that a people is being murdered with impunity, in the name of such an unjust revenge.
When we must silently accept the ongoing genocide of life.
When I'm told it's forbidden to help a man. Or that he's left to die simply by looking away. When, at school, they don't want children to move. When they prefer to give a sedative rather than take the time to listen to his distress.
When holding hands is no longer part of human gestures.
"We must remain silent!"
